sadness snuggles me and I slip into her embrace
she is a heavy lady with a lot to say
my heart sinks then sings
blue emotions slip over me
with an awakening I realize, I've been in denial
honesty in the moment is vital
hurt thoughts whisper to sadness
I am sorrowful I will never make amends to you
with a throaty laugh she looks me in the eyes
then says, let mamma handle the tough stuff
rely on your truths to see you through
you have an innocence about you that shouldn't be spoiled
gifted girl of the universes
this world contiminates the likes of you
inside your inner sanctuary keep melancholy hidden from evil
secret faith your dreams are golden
with visions of beauty not seen by most
with a sigh I come closer to her
peering through big blue eyes
her looks hard but softened at the edges
then with one last look I close the book, her story isn't mine to tell
