sound check and roll film
every moment captured in memory
black and white sorrow caught in stillife
amazing journey through the hurt
blue tears streak a child's face
momma's gone and daddy became my hero
you know he tried so hard to protect me from the world
until it was clear I would be like her
different from the others
the wolves circle, it's a miracle I didn't die
I'm a winner of the I didn't die lottery
or loser depending how you look at it
so many close calls
anxiety builds and my flesh becomes a prison
sure there is yard time
where my soul can expand and touch nature
sigh to kiss the sky for a moment
feeling like I could fly once
trajectory unknown psychic usually
but lately I am coming up against an unknown variable
it frightens me and excites
perhaps it's my exit from here
the scary part is to where
am I ready? I don't know
will I remember?
touch the night and shiver this could be my last
I'm older than both my parents when they died
longevity we don't have it
we burn hot and bright then just disappear
somehow I know I'll see you all on the other side

Powerfully penned, Brenda. Your words pulled on these old heartstrings my friend. Appreciate you.
Damian
thank you dearest Damian for feeling me so deeply on this I appreciate you 💕
Your words have a way of slicing below the surface, to the core. The last two lines remind me of the lyrics, “ it’s better to burn out than it is to rust”. Keep shining, my friend.
I sincerely hope to meet you on the other side!
thank you graciously dearest Gus for feeling me so deeply it’s appreciated 💕
