Heaven and Hell

The moment the holy water
sizzled on my flesh, I knew
that I was destined for flames.

The priest saw it, frowned
and no longer called me, “son.”
He walked on by, never to bless me again.

The moment I died, I ascended.
Below me was a sea of tears,
above me was a sky of fire.

Ascending I continued,
the life of tears I knew
was now gone.

That world, that life, those tears,
was my hell! It was a cold sea
of sorrows, where I always lamented.

Lamenting how terrible my life was.
Lamenting on the wakeful nightmares.
Lamenting on all my former friends.

Ascending still! Into the flames once more,
now its the fire of heaven I face.
Where all my lamenting tears will boil,

and steam off my cheeks,
never to haunt me again
in the form of memories nor nightmares!

Ascending to the threshold
of a fiery heaven, where pillars of fire
welcomed me, scorching

not my flesh nor searing my bone,
but all the negative thoughts
that plagued me in the hell of life!

That revolting life, drowning
in a sea of tears, constantly.
Now, my chance has come!

A chance to be purified
in the flames of heaven,
of all sin and mental illness.

The psychosis will burn away!
Sins will be forgiven!
A new beginning!

      • I believe I’m going to hell too. We can’t decide when, but we can decide how we meet that end. Love this life the fullest and to any good God that should count for something. I’ll stay strong if you stay strong, Brenda.
