As poets we have the privilege of writing and creating – from our own words – something no one else has. We may not be recognized in the same way a Robert Frost or Emily Dickenson would be, but we are able to express ourselves freely from our own minds with our peers.
After seeing people use Chat GBT on another site, I became curious after reading someone’s comment here at Stars Rite.
I won’t mention any names, but I believe some/someone is using Chat GBT as a direct reference to make comments on people’s poems and possibly stories too. The similarities are too obvious. When I opened the app this morning with the question: “What does this mean,” and inserted a recently posted poem, then compared those answers with a comment from a writer, I couldn’t help but notice the same words and ideas being used.
This made it difficult for me to comment on that person’s poem – through my own words – knowing Chat GBT’s answer.
Relying on a robot for quick answers without considering the work a writer put into his or her poems is dishonest and should be called out.
If I see someone using it for comments, how can I not suspect they’ve been using it to write poems or stories as well?
So if you rely on Chat GBT for comments and for writing because you’re lazy, you’re a fraud. You’re right up there with people who use fake profiles to praise their own books on Amazon.
Use your own words and think for yourself.
I hope in the future people will be aware of this dishonesty because it’s becoming widespread.

I think everyone should take their time and read a poem to interpret it. There is no rush in doing this. Poetry is beautiful in its complexity and how it makes the reader feel. There is no need to use chat or any other assistance to interpret how you feel.
Even if you say it touch me or I do not resignate with the piece it is how you feel.

I for one am not enough into it to call people names or wive banners.
What I do know is some of the rfacts, and they are difficult enough as it is.
We (authors, artists etc) must try and get the facts together, I think.
A friend of mine, writes beautiful poems and feeds them into Suno or Chat GPT.
What comes out of the others side of the pipe in seconds, is a more or less flawless and modern song.
Nobody is able to distinguish between what the writer wrote and what the machine wrote. And nobody gives a shit.
Therefore it is labelled P.D. Or Public domain.
My friend must be aware that after posting such a song without mentioning the real author and without acknowledgment of artistic merit or without paying for the use of that song is taking a big risk.
She, and everybody else who use this way of writing, is in fact giving away all his/her rights. Thus taking unnecessary risks of losing credits and recognition as an artist.
My idea?
Instead of doing a quick and dirty, I would concentrate on what’s really increasing the value. Artistic worth and pride for what a persons does with their ideas.
Yes, of course, this is just an opinion. But it’s my opinion. And I’m proud of it.

Powerfully penned, Tim. Excellent post. Using AI to write poems on a poetry site is not cool at all. Nor running anyones work through AI just to leave a comment. Thanks for sharing this my friend. Appreciate you.
