Withered like a leaf on a tree
Gentle and kind she used to be
She battled winds and stormy seas
Red hot frost she braved with ease
One day the sun swept her away
Her children ceased to sing and play
Suddenly the reaper her soul attacked
Like a butcher its inner mercy lacked
That killer took my friend and my life
The one who was my mother and a wife
One by one my senses failed
To God almighty I had prayed
Was anybody listing to me?
To save the one who ceased to be
Death had withered her away
My only solace is to see her in another day?
