THE SADDNESS OF AN INDIGO SMILE
“…written cause ‘tis the season’; cause death, suicide, and no hope
permeate the air; written cause 1/6th of humanity would rather ‘be safe’ than to end the society that pushes the world ever closer to extinction; written cause I know what it feels like to be sad!”
~~~~~
In the warmth of human touch
I can see you sigh
and wish I could feel you smile,
Instead……
Is it really that difficult
to have the alignment of
planets determine the results
of human activities?
Waiting….
waiting….
waiting in senseless abandonment
as the world slips out of control
on its spiraling catastrophe
alone,
lonely,
blue.
Not that wonderful blue
of a cloudless sky.
No, more like the indigo
of a clear night with no stars;
more like the blue of a
blank stare,
open eyes searching,
waiting
waiting
waiting for nothing to happen.
~~~~~
Does anyone understand?
No one can know how it feels to be
alone,
alone in a crowded room.
Blue
amidst a rainbow
floating on a spring day
that exists it seems, only
to mock our very existence;
that welcomes depression
the same way that millions die
in the name of
a “free market economy” and
American-style democracy.
~~~~~
Does it really take 60,000 years
to be able to touch
our closest neighbor?
A red planet of lifeless dust
that waits
waits
waits
for human foot prints;
waits for someone
anyone,
to climb the stairs
and ring the doorbell.
~~~~~
Is it really that difficult
to have the alignment
of planets determine
human activity?
Why are we waiting,
waiting,
waiting,
for the warmth of a human sigh,
to feel a smile?
Waiting,
waiting,
waiting as the world slips out of control
on its spiraling catastrophe
alone,
lonely,
blue.
Waiting
for nothing to happen.
Waiting
for nothing at all.
