You were there beyond the veil of night
lingering just somewhere out of sight.
Once in blue moon sorrows you descend
til the the sun had taken you again.
Beyond shadows of a doubter’s eye,
there you sleep, and there you’ll always lie.
Keeping all the vestiges of me,
yesterdays of how I used to be;
I was bitter, sobs adorned the wind,
sheltered in my sheets, playing pretend.
Then my father pointed to the sky,
told me there were faces driving by
and between all the streetlights I could find
you were there, a star amongst her kind.
Hoping that Orion would return,
the fury of the cosmos yet to burn.
The white hot tails of comets sent by you,
with promises of love in every hue.
