Love each other or die.

It’s 8 p.m.
I’m alone
in the home we built,
listening to peaceful piano music on Spotify.
I sit in my favourite chair,
a recliner, of course.
No lyrics, just piano.
If I need lyrics,
my mind will compose them.

“Arebesco” by Lorenzo Fiore
is such a peaceful piece.
It calms the mind
like seeing a beautiful bird does.

My mind and body need stillness.
I seek it out whenever I can,
because being human isn’t easy,
especially after enduring
the long dark night of the soul.
One night in hell opens wounds
that must be sealed with scar tissue.
Without scars, there’s nothing
to stop the soul from bleeding out.

So I sit quietly,
admiring my scars,
barely thinking,
barely breathing,
but very much alive.

Love each other, or die.
I exhale and sigh.
