Stirring the dormant
awakening slumbering dead
reviving the echoes
breathing life into the past
delving into the mysteries
colliding with the dark
remnants lingering in silence
of the buried bones
with indelible ink
on the slumbering dead

    1. I keep hearing this witch tell me to let the dead sleep… but here you are dragging them out of their caskets.
Oddly, this piece reminded me of the report on Abe Lincoln’s family visiting his tomb fairly recently. I’m not sure why they were compelled to do so or even why it was allowed, but I understand they were perplexed at the large red stain across his chest when they gazed upon his body. They wondered if the history books had incorrectly recorded where he’d been shot.

It turned out to be the remains of the American Flag buried with him.
