Summary:
Maybe not so much 'shorts' as unfinished scribbles. Dunno really.

Adventures in the Skin Trade

Baggage kneels heavy on our hearts

late night Hotel porter lays two suitcases

underneath a broken neon sign.

It crackles ‘For Lost Lovers Only’

Crush my burning lips as ashes

coil bed sheets into sailing knots,

let’s shelter in our skin storm

Untitled

Silently,

only words pass this way

sway of dust dancing

in air spaces birthed by broken window

In the way the sleeping bed is quiet

before skin and bones straddle pillows

I await an arrival,

silently

Bedside Manners

We spoke of the etiquette of

eye contact during oral sex,

so I promised to stare at the wall

Is that your Mother in a polka dot bikini

and why is your ex hanging over your bed?

Turning away, I counted the ceiling cracks

and felt the earthquake release of rooves

Breakfast With Tiffany

The croissants wore washed denim

roller skating waitress lost her balance,

coffee breaths formed ever decreasing

circles of muted conversation

I thought we were alone

lost in an 80’s soundtrack,

until the Mall karaoke opened

and she stood on a table…and sang

opening ‘regrets’ of My Way. Her way

*Folk of a certain age may recall Tiffany and her one-hit wonder
