Sensitive Heart
It’s a sensitive heart,
Of woman or man.
People toss it around,
Roast it to their taste.
We are hurt knowingly,
Or unknowingly too.
Bruised in hidden corners,
Just to keep others fed.
O dear God, why
Are hearts consumed so easily?
O sensitive heart,
Stay protected
Within your cage of ribs,
Away from the world’s harsh heat.
You are kind.
You are strong.
No one can truly break you,
No one can roast your soul.
For you are dearest to the Almighty.
Yes—
We are all
Dearest to the Almighty.
