Then spin their web
With no shame
They warn of mobs
That storm and rage
Then idolize their leader
Conducting on stage
A Capitol breached
A flag unfurled
“Patriots” we are
“Just misunderstood”
Law and order
They preach of peace
While pardons fly
And ethics cease
“Hunter’s laptop”
They scream and shout
While their own files
Are whisked about
They desperately cry
“Indoctrination’s here”
While banning books
And stoking fear
“We’re not woke but awake”
They love to say
As they rewrite history
Every single day
They claim to fight
For working folks
Then pass tax breaks
For their own cloaks
“Drain the swamp”
They once declared
Then dine with donors
Payoffs well prepared
A masquerade
A mirrored hall
Where truth is bent
And facts are small
Each mask reflects
The other’s face
Projection surrounded
By a tight embrace
So round and round
The dancers spin
Each side convinced
They’ll surely win
But in the end
The jokes on us
The crowd outside
