**Divided, Yet Whole**

Once in a year,

with the man I gave birth to.

Once in a decade,

with the man who was born for me.

But every single day,

with the man who gave birth to me.

I asked God,

“Why did you do this to me?”

And even He

had no answer.

I asked my son,

“Can I be with you?”

He said,

“I’m not sure…

but I would be glad

if you left the other two

and stayed only with me.”

I asked my husband,

“Can I stay with you?”

He smiled and said,

“If you leave your son behind

and love only me,

I would be very glad.”

I asked my father,

“Can I be with all three of you?”

He held my hand and said,

“Don’t leave me…

you need not travel so far.

Just stay,

and I would be glad.”

And I thought—

“If you divide me like this,

I must break myself

into pieces…”

But they all laughed,

soft and kind—

“You don’t need to break.

Just send us your love,

your smiles,

every day…

and we will be glad.”

And my goddess mother

whispered,

“Amen,”

and blessed us all.
