HomePoetryLost Poem #2: Vow in 3/5 Time
Summary:
A bit of nonsense in an odd rhyme scheme done in 3/5 time; first and last syllables of the first line of a verse in tortured rhyme with those of the second line. A crazy experiment. Keep the beat when reading it, my friends!

When I grow up I

Then will blow up my

Dress shirt and necktie

(Bes’ suit too!), Heck I

Means I’ll wear Levi

Jeans and my tenni

Shoes, And I’ll choose to

Lose those ol’ blues, do

Drink some good booze, too!

Think I may snooze two

Days, read the news through

(Mays it and muse!), Who

I want with I’ll sup,

Buy a fish (a gup-

Py, too or a pup-

Py who is cute. Yup!

Then I’ll drain my cup

(When I do grow up)!

      • Oh, thank you! I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep it, but reading it again made me smile, too, so I thought I’d share it and see what others thought. If no one else leaves a positive note, you alone have made this venture worthwhile.

    1. You??!! Grown up?? Highly doubtful, not with pup-pies running around or with fishbowl gup-pies. And I am guessing you are good friends with that ‘flying’ Peter and his pixie friend. I think we “older” folk need a slogan or motto, something like “The older I gets, the younger I feels” (in mind if not in body…LOL). And of course we will also need a theme song, this poem will do quite nicely I think!!!! Go, FlatDaddy, GO! Keep on rockin’ tha stage!! And the crowd ‘snaps’ galore.
