today grew heavy

like the snow blowing

outside my window

emotions once

stitched tightly

into your special chamber

of my heart

rose up

drifting like the flakes

that keep falling

my own season of pain

i shovel at the drifts

try to pack them down

a snowball of ache

straining to breathe

outside its icy chamber

shimmering like diamonds now

the years of pressure

of swallowing your loss

have turned the coal

of your soul

into a sparking stone

forever carried

in your special pocket

my baby

you will always be

the one I hold

inside myself

the one

I never got

to touch
