daylight’s alibi

HomePoetrydaylight’s alibi

the sun splits the horizon
too fuckin early
too fuckin bright
gold tyrant haulin itself
over the wreckage of the night

blue spreads clean and merciless
a wound torn wide
fire bleedin slow
just that endless color
pretending nothin rots beneath it

blue spreads
raw
merciless
fire bleedin slow
that endless color
pretendin nothin rots beneath it

warmth was promised
that soft reach into the ribs
that thaw
that loosenin
that slow untyin
fingers pryin winter from my core

sunlight spills over skin
slides over collarbone
rests in the hollow of the throat
cold grips the bone
doesn’t give a fuck
how much fire is in the sky

they call this Hope
with the sun in the sky
calm as a king
day stretched wide
light marchin across the world
heat skins the surface
never makin it past skin

so I stand in it
just for awhile

let the light settle
let the mornin try
to prove itself to me

turns out…
it’s just another day
wearin hope’s face

Powerfully penned, 253. Excellent write per usual my friend. So many incredible lines in this ink, but the stanza above stands out to me. Killer work. Appreciate you.
