I met you at the hotdog stand
On the corner near my office
No love affair was in my plan
But I was captured by a Goddess
Why did you choose me?
Did onions cheese and chili sauce
Transform me, make me fit for love?
Swans don’t flirt with albatross
My phoenix feared your snow white dove
How could you choose me?
You got me with a shot of mustard
Stained, what’s now, a treasured shirt
You giggled, and I just got flustered
Beauty frightens introverts
You’re out of my league!
You offered me remuneration
To clean the spot upon my shirt
I could barely hide elation
“Will you join me for dessert?”
Why did you join me?
Months have passed, I’m far past smitten
I’m totally in love with you!
I’m still afraid and keep stuff hidden
Only to find, you always knew
How do you always know?

Brilliantly penned, Reggie. This was a great write my friend, and they always know. Appreciate you.

This made me smile.
I love everything about this. The subject, the style, the language, the sentiment…Just wonderful.
What a great poem! I love the uncertainty throughout the piece…to be rewarded in the end!
I agree with everything Adira said, this was wonderful and so so pleasant.
I love this, well done.
