An Ode to Stonehenge

HomePoetryAn Ode to Stonehenge

In an age a long time ago was built this circle of hell
Here they stand stone next to stone, nobody knows their true power
This was a place where magicians work
On an altar they practiced their cult
With the power of words, they changed the four elements

Fire – Water – Air and Earth – defeated me and be my slave
See my hands and feel the strength – obey my might, obey my will

No one knows what it really can be, also today the legend still lives
They are only signs of a time, where other laws exist on this earth
In the south of England they stand, this is from another life
Let me take you by the hand and I’ll show you their power
Hide these feelings in your heart, feel it in your soul
Feel the power of the stones, feel it in your head
I feel the power of the stones, deep within my heart

Stonehenge is calling…

    1. My daughter was able to visit Stonehenge her senior year of high school. Even from the distance she said she could feel an otherness about it. Closest I’ve ever been is Carhenge. One day though… Love this!

    2. Such an iconic and historical place.

If you’re writing about it then I assume that you are from the United Kingdom, same as myself.

      Splendid and extraordinary read. x

      • I’m an American. Born & raised in New York. Never been to the UK. Fascinated with Stonehenge & the infamous crop circles when I was kid. I love England though. Greatest music comes from there. Thanks Rosie!!

    3. Mysteriously penned, Keith. Excellent cryptic write my friend. Nice to read your work again brother. For some reason Stonehenge makes me think of Spinal Tap. lol. I know you understand why though, being an admirer of vintage cinema. Appreciate you.
