    Dust Before the Storm

The warning didn’t comewith sirens or lights. It came quietly,a shift in the air,a stillness settlinglike dust before a storm. The horses grew restless, pacing the fence line, ears toward somethingI could not yet see. Even the cowslifted their heads, watching the horizonas if it...

    • I have never been in the path of a tornado. But I have been in my share of storms that I should have listened to clear out. Strongly felt piece

    • Animals have that sense about them we don’t. You’ll often see cats and dogs react moments before an earthquake. Great picture and poem here.

      • You’re right, Tim. Animals always seem to sense what we try to ignore. My dogs know before me.

    • Powerfully penned, CG. Excellent write with precise imagery my friend. Outstanding visuals as always. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Damian, that means a lot. I’m grateful the visuals spoke to you the way they did. Appreciate you, truly. 🙂

    • Dear CG,

This write had me thinking about life’s events. Not just Mother Nature and her wrath but knowing relationships are shifting towards an end but hoping if I ignore it it will pass me by. The under current of kinetic energy throughout the piece is great because it sets an inevitable conclusion that comes despite our hope. Terrific writing. H🌷

    Dark Honey

Your desireis slow and thick, dark honeydrippingfrom every glance. You trace  my spinewith deliberate sweetness, each touch a question, and a claim. I melt into you, into the warmth you draw out of me,  drop  by  drop.

    • Powerfully penned, Brandon. Excellent write my friend. There is a longing in the words of this one. Nicely done.

      Damian

    • There’s a sense of almost but not quite saying. A dance around the edges of something. Damian is right. There is a longing ringing through this one.

      • I like both yours and Damian’s observations. I was playing with words with a longing vibe that day. I am glad you both can see that. Thank you for reading.

    • Hey Brandon!

There is longing but also a smidge of courage.
Letting someone watch you in real time falling is no joke.
Being vulnerable when it comes to longing isn’t easy.
Takes courage to put yourself out there.
I also enjoyed all the rhyming too.
It’s got meter and rhythm. Very nicely done!

    • hello dearest Brandon this is deep I understand the need to fulfill your fantasies in real time this is great ❤️

    • Lots of darkness in this. It seems like an expression of an unhappiness that can’t even be found in dreams or fantasies leading to an ultimate end. Life is always a series of hills and valleys.

    • Wow l can feel the darkness here. Great write
