    The raven's hue

Stress coiled around her eyes. When hope dissolvedbeyond light-years,she slid open her dresser drawer. Beneath sprawling pharmacy scriptsand towers of credit card bills, the black metal trigger pulsedraven-dark, alive. With a velocity that could split stars, and energy enoughto fracture galaxies, she became weightlessa wandering...

    jazz on a rainy day

I sat at the café table by the window, rain tracing slow rivers down the glass. The city blurred gray beyond, tiny circles forming and vanishing in puddles that caught the soft glow of streetlights.   Jazz drifted from a small speaker, warm and intimate, and I...

    • My funny valentine is a beautiful song. It’s something that sticks in the mind. I like how you said that a painter may hear it. That could make is day go easier. Nice piece

    • I remember this one. It is so good. Top tier writing, really. It could be in any creative writing book out there. I think it’s my fav of yours, and perhaps your best. Excellent.

      • I wondered if I had posted this before. Thanks, Styx. This is the result of about 18 revisions. lol

    • hello dearest Tim you’re obciously of great taste…I feel your pangs on this rainy day painted so beautifully ❤️

    • Beautifully penned, Tim. Such an excellent write with amazing storytelling and precise imagery my friend. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

      Damian

    • You spread imagery like a true artist in this one. A painter could never touch it. You took us there and settled us with that song in that café and created a moment forever breathing

    • Tim this is one of the most evocative and emotionally strong poems of have read on the Beat poet experience. I have read much Kerouac, Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, and many others and this poem takes me into the heart of their world but written in retrospective from a much later time. Truly this is a work of great poetic art that refreshed my spirit on how much I loved reading those writers from yesteryear.

    • Really great work. The depersonalization of our world. Moving words.

    • wow this sounds like a relationship and how you feel within yourself in it great write ❤️

    • Thank you, Crimsin. 🙂

    • This has me thinking about my dad. This is very good Tim, I like this alot

    • On point, Tim. I love the reflective nature of this. It has powerful meaning on its own, as a read for us too.
My father died slow, and quite aware of it all, til the end. I was his friend more than his son. But it was crushing just as much.
      Your write is outstanding.

      • Thank you Styx. You’re lucky, my father didn’t know who I was in the end. He thought I was a hospital worker being he was in and out of there so much. He may have known on the last night, but I’ll never know for sure.

    • Powerfully penned, Tim. Excellent write my friend. This one pulls at the heartstrings. Appreciate you.

      Damian

    • Thank you for your thoughts, Damian.

    • Tim, I felt this in the marrow of my bones deep in a place I haven’t visited in so long. Truly a deeply felt poem with a melancholy beauty that was perfect for this night’s reading.

      John

    • This captures the way memory frays at the edges. A tender, aching piece.

More Than Just A Contented Man

More Than Just A Contented Man   Dear lord, I want you in the sauna, slippery salty and wet with your hair matted    and several shades darker .. Clinging to your shoulders and your back like sun shy ivy    crawling over church walls .. Dear lord, if only I could...
