    Shadow Of Doubt

Biased figures manipulate opportunities Power has reigned since the dawn of time Spitting rhetoric laced with dry ambiguities  False sincerity acted out in full pantomime   Dreams are aborted before even catching breath Harsh reality of being worked and taxed to death   Programmed from a young...

    • Love this… great job Damion…

    • This post, at first blush, leaves me with what to disagree with. After a second read, and seeing the layers underneath, it is powerful and insists that one consider it on the deeper level. Many thanks and blessings. <3 Echo

    • Fist in the air, I’m over here going “Yeah! And…yeah!” All the way through this one. I remember this one & I’m glad she followed you over. Some truths should never fade into darkness. Favorite line:

Only way to quit the lie is to go cold turkey

      That is gold, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I loved that line as well. It ranks high as one of my best in my opinion. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Raw and gritty. Love it.

    • Totally agree…
We got a shitstorm of rhetoric and meaningless ambiguity to wade through. I remember the term “Double Speak” from Orwell’s 1984. So legitimate. The dude had the future pegged.

What we need round here is another Nostradamus and some hymnals.

      Great write

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, DK. So glad you connected with the write my friend. He did get some of it spot on, indeed. Appreciate you.

    • Thanks, Adira. It feels great to be free, at least for a while.

    • You know, in my class we’d spin the bottle, and the teacher wasn’t invited. I’m so glad you’re in there doing the spinning. It’s obvious that you make learning fun. (I’m not saying we didn’t have fun learning, but it wasn’t on the curriculum.)

Have fun in your new life! You’ve earned it.

      • If it was Van Halen’s Hot for Teacher, the teacher might have been invited to Spin the Bottle (old video but still fun, I think anyway).

Thanks for the good wishes on my new life. While web surfing I stumbled upon a school I might actually like. Going to apply. Can always turn it down.

    • Phenomenal write. Your poetry has such humor & realism. Love it! Wishing you the best of luck in your journey.

    • This is a great read.
I wish I had teachers like you who gave a damn about her students. I’ve had ADD my whole life. I outgrew it for years but now as a geezer it’s returning…. which sucks.
I skim everything but I read every word here…

      Best of luck going forward.
I’m thinking of retiring but the thought of it makes me kinda want to puke. I’m old enough to retire but I’m not done yet.
Need a new career not so much for the money but more for identity..

      • Thank you PS. I get the retirement struggle. Even if I could afford to retire at this point, I know I would feel lost. Like you, I feel I have more to give. And structure is necessary for ADDs like us. I’m just hoping to find a new gig that’s not as stressful. Hope you find what you’re looking for too.

    • You’re a wonderful person, Meg. And an outstanding writer. I love your stories and poetry. Expert at writing erotica and by your picture you’re gorgeous. I don’t judge nor would I here. Sorry, I saw this post had no comments and you spilled alot out. Keep doing what you’re doing, Meg.

      Danny boy

      • Awe, thank you, Danny. Curiously, there are not a lot of ‘story’ writers or readers here. I’m guessing it’s because the majority of the membership seems to be transplanted from DUP… which is fine by me. I usually prefer poetry over prose, but most writing sites cater to prose. I’m good with 50/50, and I’m sure that’s the vision.

If there’s ever been a confessional, this is kind of it. What can you really say.

        Thanks for reading, Danny!

    • You write your feelings at that moment so well that I can feel as if I am in your place.

    • A 10 minute story that held my interest. Not many can do that. You DK always create some marvelous story with explosive detail and imagery. Noting short of being a classic write. Your a talent and know how to stir a man or a woman’s imagination. xxx.

    • Excellent work. You bring it to life. Tremendous work. Stay hard at it. I appreciate you.

    • Meg, you take me along with you into the scene as I read. It is as if I were there seeing it all, hiding in a corner. Truly exquisite prose artist you are. Your narrative grips me as I read. I can feel it all through your crystal clear writing. You are truly talented. I am a really enjoying these. The ending here has me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait t read more of this story.

      John

      • John, that’s such an amazing comment from a talented writer like you. Thank you. I’m so glad you’re enjoying my stories and following me!
