    • We as humans should care about the environment and each other but it seems that caring about the environment and each other is not our priority. It’s a shame.

      • I agree..we should..but we do not value whats important..only what we consume..and the values we grew up with seem long gone

    • Great polemic no doubt regarding the recent US attack on Venezuela.
I can’t accept that the bulk of American citizens would still vote for Trump and his Court Jesters.
To be fair, Trump is only the puppet. The puppet masters are the unelected, neo fascist multinational corporations running all western democracies.

      • While I agree the unelected neo facists are the corporations running the western democracy and they feed the war machine because it generates a ton of money for themselves and their ppl..I do worry there are still many Americans that will support trump and his jesters no matter what..no matter what actions or evidence is presented to them their opinions dont change..I don’t know what the tipping scale is for Trump supporters but I dont think we are there..unfortunately..its scary knowing more chaos lies ahead

    • Politics aside, this is a well written poem with great flow and a spot on message. I can sense your urgency within it. But you didn’t lose control. Well done.

    • Powerfully penned, Mstrmnd. Excellent write my friend. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

    Snowflakes

Small, white ballerinas. In the air cold, divine. Is what snowflakes are. You play to pass the time. They gracefully move through the air.And land in a pile. White blanket, sun in the air.And they have a friendly smile. The air is their dance floor. Their destination is the...

    100 years

It's been an year. Then ten..Been a hundred years. But nobody knew what it meant.Over the years,I sang this song.Hoping you will appear, confess to me. And try to sing along. When roses bloom, and clouds are gloomy.I crossed the roads oh so busy. To find...

    • I enjoyed this read. My favorite stanza is:

” Thousands of lives lived without you.
So I will cherish this only one.
For if I am reborn and you are not there.”

    • An age-old dilemma I’m afraid. Unrequited love, or at least attention. You write is a calm plea perhaps, yet we’ve all nodded our heads to your message.

    Caught in the Crossfire

(1983) …I’m running scared, I’m running fast, I’m running for my lifeWhile soldiers fire from the left and rebels shoot from the rightThe sound of death is a deafening boom from all the bloody strifeBut as a  nine-year-old boy, it...

    • Powerfully penned, Wally. A very heartfelt write my friend. Thanks so much for sharing. Appreciate you.

      • Thank you Damian.
It’s an impressionable memory that still seems vivid in my mind from time to time. Either way, I’m glad to be here and share with others.

    • This had my heart pounding for you. That is something I would never want for anyone to experience in their lives. It does happen though.

      • Hi Fia,
It all happened so fast and yet the memory of it is still fresh in my mind after so many years. Now that I read books and stories I’m baffled at how bad (or worse) it was for others. There is a movie coming out later this year about one of these massacres. I wrote a piece about it while at DU but I know the movie will tell the heartbreaking story in detail.

    • Sometimes I’m a little partial to war and the suffering because of it. The futility of the common soldier and civilians. it’s never glamorous and never without suffrage. You wrote it well.

      • Thank you so much Styxian.
The damage it does to people as a society has long lasting consequences. As I was telling Fia in the previous comment, the movie coming out later this year will tell more of the stories. We must always learn our history to see where we’ve been so we see the signs ahead.
        Hope you’re doing well.
