    • Reminds me of the saying “you’re only as good as your last hit”. Not really sure why, but has that vibe of chasing a dream.

      Great ink

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Nick. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That saying is actually true to an extent. Whether it be a record company, or songwriting partner, they believe that to be the case. It’s a crazy world. Appreciate you.

    • Makes me wonder what happened & where he went in his mind. Watching someone whose clock is ticking on self-destruct mode is rough. Friendships always seem to be the first casualties. Sounds like he choose something not real over value, in my opinion, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with write my friend. In the end it was all about him. He only came to me when help was needed where his bandmates couldn’t help. What changed the most was even in those moments when I would help, he questioned every idea. Then would take something he liked I said, and totally reword it into his lines. That may sound petty on it’s face on my part, but it wasn’t like that until the last 6 months we were friends. It was like he doubted me for some reason. I mean all I did was get sober, while he remained on the sauce. Go figure. lol. Appreciate you.

    • Best line: funneling booze into a hemorrhaging mind…

      Great work as always Damian!

    • Fantastic work, my friend. Vivid and sharp.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was for the best I guess, he’s still doing the same thing last I heard. Meanwhile, I got a whole creative family/community first at DU then here at SR. I host, Backstage, and SpotLight. And I’m writing again, I think I did alright on my own. Appreciate you.

    • Always a joy reading your writes. Sadly, friendships usually don’t last forever. Great write my friend.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That they don’t, it’s kinda sad when you really think about that little footnote you just mentioned. Appreciate you.

    • Oof…i felt this one like a fist in the gut. Guilt truly is like cancer…eats you up. And fear will wear you down. And they tag team far too well. The amazing thing about your late night musing is that it’s not directed. You let it take the wheel…& where it takes the reader is anyone’s guess. But we’re all buckled in for a fantastic ride, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. They are a powerful tag team for sure. I try not to alter lines, other than maybe shaving a word here and there for better flow. But for the most part I don’t have a preconceived notion of what I’m writing about. That’s only on poetry though, proses I usually have an idea of what story I’m telling. The tangents I go on are improvised though. lol. Appreciate you.

      Great piece Damian. ⚘️

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Jade. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Nice line, that works for me. Appreciate you.

    • I’ve been living with guilt for 30 years … I know

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Sam. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Then you definitely understand, indeed. Appreciate you.

    • Damian, I gave up living with guilt long ago. I surrendered it, to a force much greater than I.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Alexandria. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I too have surrendered a lot of mine as well, to a greater force as well. Except for a very deep and complicated guilt over a situation, and it’s a work in progress at the moment. Appreciate you.

    • Life is a ride with different turns. Great ink

    • Guilt sucks. Practice in becoming a sociopath. It will erase all those guilty feelings. Great write Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That it might, but I don’t know if I’d like myself anymore. Although if I was a sociopath I probably wouldn’t care, would I? No, it’s a hard no. lol. Appreciate you.

    • There are 89 seconds to midnight on the doomsday clock. That’s the closest we’ve ever been to human extinction.
      Great musing, my friend.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Alexandria. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That’s pretty damn close, 1 minute and 29 seconds, did not know that one. This old dog still learning new tricks, thanks for the info, I like knowing little odd details, I’ve heard of the doomsday clock, just never knew about how close we got. Your commentary really means a lot my friend. Appreciate you.

    • I was reading this & groaning out loud as I did. Because it’s so painfully accurate. Am I the only one who feels like we’re watching the world draw inward…preparing to implode? All because those who have would rather have more than be decent fuckers. So instead they destroy everything in their greed. I’m a subdued pissed now, reading this. Yet again, you capture the essence of reality in all its ugly truth, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I agree, to quote Dennis Hopper in the movie Flashback: “We got two classes. The truly needy and the truly greedy.” I sometimes can’t believe it’s happened, then I have to recall how we got here. I’m surprised how slowly the people are waking up, gotta hope they don’t wait till the 11th hour. Appreciate you.

    • I like the angry box. You are right it is important to let out the rage, bottled up is a bomb ready to be set off. Good write Damian.

    • Powerful. Writing is cethartic. You nailed it.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I figured you could relate. Appreciate you.

    • Despite wildly different backgrounds & life stories, I somehow think you & I have similar spirits. Creation is a beautiful outlet & when we’re in pain, all we want to do is create beauty to soothe the wounds. And if you were anything like I was, secretly hoping one day you’d be famous & show those douche canoes. 😂 You, my friend, are a rockstar!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I have thought that as well, we’re what I call Kindred Spirts. Fancy talk for we kinda think alike, I feel that too. I’m the most popular rockstar that never made it I know of. lol. I’ve made it in my own way, just not the traditional way. Appreciate you.
