Holding our words always backfires. Anger has so much power. It can be overwhelming.
I totally get this write. -
I actually have a number of creative outlets, though painting has proven to not be among my talents. But when the muse stops speaking, they all go dormant at once. It will come in its time. If you’re saying I should stop writing, that’s not likely to happen. 😂 Thank you
-
Why would I suggest you stop writing? I am all about encouraging others to write as much as they can. We all have a dry spell at times. So I was simply saying find an outlet that continues your creative sparks, if you feel like it of course.
Writing is in our blood. There is no stopping.-
I was joking. I didn’t think you were telling me to stop writing. You once gave me an earful on DU for deactivating – because you said I was too good a writer to quit. I do get a fair amount of “oh just be quiet” in my real world though. Decades later I’m still ignoring them. 😂 Thank you
-
I will try to make this brief. Ha! Me? LOL
Creative writing was my salvation through so many periods in my life. I still do have a glitch when I speak sometimes. But as the years went by, creative writing became my avenue. My confidence soared from that. Writing is our cape!
And yes, you are a good writer, Willow. You have a maturity that solidifies your place in writing. I admire you for your results.

YES!!! Not only is Willow back, she comes with FIRE!!! Isn’t that usually the case with real poets, there are too many words, too much emotion and we cannot hold them back even if we try. They demand to be spoken, written on parchment, sung to the universe. These words are like lava, burning as they go, scorching the earth with an anger born of seeing, feeling, too much pain. Or at times seeing and feeling a shared connection with a fellow traveler while holding hands. And, we take these too many words and shape our world, influence those around us and make the world colorful.
Speak Willow, Speak!!!

That storm in your skull feels real—too many words clawing for daylight while you’re just trying to breathe.
But I like the stubborn fire in you, using the anger as fuel instead of letting it burn the whole house down.

“Just stick it directly into my neck and eyeball, doc!” I always said. Dental work makes for quality mental training at handling pain. It’s not just the pain, but the sounds of scraping, spit sucking, and smell of drilled bone. It can make for serious anxiety. But dentistry has come a long way….I coulda slept through that last root canal. Practically a massage compared to the one I had 20 years ago. I was kinda disappointed, really. I’d been dreading it all day. Seemed like a waste of perfectly good dread, tbh.

I’ve had one filling in my life. And they called it more like a stain than a cavity.
He talked me into letting him do it without any anesthesia. It went okay. But this new dentist I’m going to found
a couple of cavities and I’m going to get the shot. To say I’m dreading it is putting t mildly. lolThanks for stopping by!

Dear A,
Great piece. I enjoyed the parallel imagery of the sweet and the pain. I don’t like a lot of things but I especially don’t like people fiddling around in my mouth! I feel your anxiety. The good news, it’ll be over before you realize it and then bring on the sweets. Awesome formatting and refrain. “give me some of that
novocaine
make it sweet sweet sweet
like sugarcane” I intend to sing that for applicable situations. I’ll give you the street cred but that’s too delicious. Great write. H🌷 -
But it’s the sugarcane that got you in this predicament! My poor baby!
What a great rappish write you have here. It’s like you’re bringing some street cred to the dentist, as a warning to them. LOL
It’s going to be okay, you’ll see. And the payoff is worth it. You have a million dollar smile, so take care of it.
Oh and hey, what a great avatar pic you have! I wonder who just randomly took a facetime pic of you as they were talking with ya, and it turned out perfect! I know art when I see it, baby.-
Hi babe! Ughhh. I’m dreading it as you know.
I’m flossing daily and brushing twice a day. I’m not an avid flosser but I’m changing my ways!
Plus I need to get me another water pic! The first time I used one I didn’t realize how strong it was. lol
I ended up giving myself a facial! Water went everywhere until I got used to it.
Once I even managed to squirt the bathroom ceiling. Hahaha. Thanks for the pic sweetie. Even though it drives me crazy when you randomly decide to take a FaceTime pic!
But I can’t be mad at you cause I love you ya know.Love you and get ready for a phone call.
No pics!!!! 😁

Hey you took some already today!!! As long as we continue to allow each other to say “delete it”, all is fair!

Cheat?! I have a better eye for awesome than you do. My fiance is way hotter than your fiance! So there’s me being right again…. lol
-
Hey Adelly. I have no cavities but I do have a tooth whose face fell off. Luckily it’s where you can’t see it. 🙂 My dentist died a couple of years ago, (he was in his eighties) he was great. He could give you a shot without you seeing it by holding his hand up a certain way. It never hurt either. Good luck with your fillings.
-
Well howdy Tim!
It’s been a long minute amigo!
So happy to see you on my page.I went in for a general cleaning and low and behold I have a couple of cavities.
They said better to take care of now before they get out of hand.
I know they are right but still! Needles still freak me out. Thanks for stopping by!

Ugh, I hate going to the dentist! It’s worse than going to the doctor for me. The bounce back and forth between Novocain and sweet was fun. The one led to the other 😂
-
I agree! But since I don’t want to end up with
dentures when I’m older I gotta face the Novocaine music! lol
I’ve been pretty lucky with my teeth considering how much sugar I eat.
So I’m putting on my big girl pants and getting it over with.
It ain’t cheap either! This was fun to write:).
Nice to see you Willow.
Thanks for stopping by chica!

The dentist and I have an agreement: he stays in his building and I stay in my building several miles away. It’s a good arrangement. As for your poem, I felt the sting of the needle when you got jabbed, but the Novocain felt cool going in. And I need to thank you for the fuzzy tongue that lasted about 2 hours. If, as I believe, poetry is supposed to make you “feel”, your poem succeeded wonderfully, Adelphina.
-Curt-
Hahaha.
Hi Curt!
I wish I could stay several miles away but my fear of being toothless when I’m eight keeps me in line. Lol
It was a fun vent write. I am not a fan of the dentist. Never have been but I’ve seen people with an abscess tooth.
That scared me more lolThanks for topping by for a read amigo!

Only a poet of your talent can make the prospect of a dental appointment into a celebratory playful delight. I loved reading this. The sing song rhythm just had me totally feeling it.

Hahaha, love the way that you saw and add a little comedy to the situation. Just relax dental is a part of overall health, simply twist one before your visit. Tight
