Flying Kites Over Cemetery Gates and Her Journals

Yr unig wirionedd    Love flew out of your mouth in hieroglyphics  like an invitation to a sky wedding  writ on the wrists of kites     Dawn ghosted,  as a ship’s prow through windows  tangled in curtain rigging     in the way silence enters an emptying room  sunrise gallows hang  heavy...

    • The boat theme in this is eerily good.

      • Thank you. There is something enchanting, and yet, eerie of the ocean. It’s bigger & greater than human kind.

    • The first line immediately sucked me in.
You do not waste any words with your poetry and you let us see what we see. I really like that in poetry.
      You are an amazing wordsmith.

      • Thank you. Even as a kid, on a rough council estate, always found scribbling to be cathartic.

    HEAVEN'S SOULS OF 9-11

The sky, a brilliant and unblemished blue, September's morning, a world fresh and new. No hint of shadow, no whisper of dread, As towers of commerce stood tall overhead. In bustling streets, the city awoke, To the rhythm of life, a hopeful stroke. Then silence...

    • Nice work Navina.

It was a dreadful act but so was the response.America has changed much since then and not for the better.

I hope one day the good American, the kind American, the compassionate American, the generous, welcoming American will triumph over the greedy, selfish egomaniacs that currently run the show…..but I doubt it.
      🙏

    • I remember the day well. I lost two friends in it, both fireman. Everyone knew someone who died and many lost their faith that day. This is an excellently written poem.

    • “The jewes are the people that will not be blamed for nothing.” There was a lot of prejudice against jews in Whitechapel and the entire east end in 1888. I knew what this was about as soon as I saw the title. He left a leather apron behind after one of the killings. Possible Annie Chapman, not sure. Mary Kelly got it the worst, he had plenty of time with her. Excellent poem with great rhymes . I’m glad I read this.

    • Thanks for commenting..I’m glad you stumbled across it..and seems like you have a lot of knowledge about the history of this..I actually want to dive deeper and learn more..I never knew all this stuff..and how many victims there were..
