      We Are Atlas

it lays in my lap... closed... and anything but silent... it's speaking still... my hands resting reverently upon the cover... as a flood of emotions... and memories... pour from my eyes   she said it... and I felt it... at every single level... from the surface of thought... to the tiniest molecule...

      See the Sea

See hope Where there is despair See warmth where there is coldness see the tides change subtle but with strength   When one says they are fine See the truth Confusion has clouded the mind and practice smiles can fool the best proficient optimist   Off into the horizon Where two blues meet Darkness...

      Hang In There

Dear me,   there are so many things to say... and not enough words to express them... assuming you even have time to process.   I know what evil lurks in your shadows... the monsters haunting your thoughts... stalking your every terrified breath   I can assure you... there are...

      • I needed to read this today willow. This hit the right spot.

      • Awesome, and very relatable.
Actually, I was telling Del earlier that I want to work on something called “Book Of Scars”. Looks like you beat me to it! Maybe I will, still. But I don’t know if I can not be influenced by your write here. That’s okay!
I had some “issues” when I was a kid. But, as I got older, I realized that I would indeed outlive the demons. And I have. I am extremely mentally tough, for whatever reasons. Yet I do have a part of me that still feels the good out there. Perhaps that is why I enjoy your writes as much as I do. It’s real and easy to relate to.

        • The Rattle the Bones series is something I felt I needed to do…for me. I’ve shared bits and pieces of my trauma, but I’ve always been careful to not share chronologically. It’s time to “tell my story” from the beginning, in order. I can’t say it was a pleasant experience, writing and sorting it all out, but it’s done. I can’t share them all at once, so it’s gonna take some time to get them out in the atmosphere. I’m glad to hear you’re considering writing your story. I don’t believe we’re strong because of our trauma, I believe we’re still here because of our strength. Not everyone makes it out intact. If there’s one thing humans share unilaterally, it’s the experience of pain. Write your series, I’ll be here for it

      • Powerfully penned, Willow. Another excellent write with lots of layers, but also wisdom and guidance my friend. Using one’s voice to heal instead of lashing out.. Hit me like a bag of sledgehammers with this one. The letter format was a cool choice that fit the vibe and your musical accompaniment is precise. Below is the part that struck a chord inside me. Amazing read/listen as always. Thanks for sharing your story.. Appreciate you, Sis.

“your voice is your strongest weapon

I know the urge will be to finally lash out

        don’t

        use it to heal…

        to share how you feel…

        you’re not alone

        trust me…

        I know

        with all my love…

        me”

        • This was a piece that I wrote for a challenge on the old site, write a letter to your younger self. It eventually went on the cover of my book. I think there’s power in knowing how strong your expression is. With power comes responsibility. Use it with compassion and understanding. It’s a very healing way to use one’s power, I think. Thank you, bro. I’m glad this one resonated

      • I love this! Writing letters to ourselves is the most authentic poetry in my opinion.
Sometimes we write to find others who can relate but sometimes it’s meant for ourselves – to find our own sense of inner peace, self worth, all of it.
        Again, I love this.
        Keep on keeping on chica:)

        • This was written as an entry into a challenge on the old site, to write to our younger self. There was only one thing I really wanted to say, so I stuck to that thought. Talk about crying like a baby when I wrote it. 🙈 I’m glad you enjoyed this one 😊

      • This is so cool. I enjoyed this.

      • Thank you Willow for mentioning me and other regulars in this delightful piece.
Made me feel like part of a learned, diverse and decent community.
        💋

        • Community is everything these days. Your comment about being a coffee companion sparked the inspiration for this one. 😊

      • Hi Willow! I love how this opens and how you see all of us here on the site.
It was a nice reminder for me since I’ve been locked away for the past year writing.
Plus another reminder of where my writing flourished.
It was beside you and everyone you mentioned plus a few others:)
I wish I was on more but please know you and everyone here are always in my thoughts.
You also made Mark’s morning! I got a text telling me about this write!!
Thank you for such a lovely description:)
Right back at ya chica. You are magnificent!

        • I feel like the world has become increasingly dark of late and if we don’t celebrate each other and our community, we really miss an opportunity. There were a lot I couldn’t fit in here but I didn’t want to create an epic, so I stuck with the core I interact with most frequently. Do your thing, girl. The community will still be here when you have breathing room 😊

      • Awwwww! It’s always nice to be acknowledged for some good that we do. And yeah, me and Del may be lovebirds, but we love to write as well.
This is such a snazzy write! I do like the community aspect of the place, for those who actually take part! Like you!

        • Felt like introducing my community to a stranger, writing this one. That’s how inspiration seems to hit when we trigger a write in each other, the way Peter’s comment inspired this one. We gotta lift each other up! 😊

      • Amazingly penned, Willow. Wow.. You’ve written an anthem for the site, and a soundtrack for this community of writers that aren’t afraid to wield their pens and share their journeys. Walking these halls is an honor, and I’m grateful for this community and our creative family that gathers around the bonfire from time to time. Excellent lyrics and an amazing musical arrangement as always. I’m assuming this one goes on the “Bonfire” album? You know I want this one.. Appreciate you, Sis.

        Damian

        • I had a lot of fun with this one while I was sick. It just kept growing because there are so many I wanted to mention. One comment about morning coffee and we celebrate each other and the site. It’s definitely on the album. I’ve already sent it your way, bro. See you at the next bonfire! 😊

      • OMG… thank you Willow.. I didn’t know I can light fires… well, maybe little ones… but I am honored to be part of this amazing group. Don’t worry I will try to keep an eye on you.. well, especially you …

        • A fire is only little because of the space and oxygen allowed. And a spark can become an Inferno without warning. We need the heat as winter approaches. Your last line cracked me up. I’ll try not to give you too much trouble 😊😂

      • The Sheriff will always live! We had some good years…and they ain’t done yet! 🙌
