Powerfully penned, Keith. It’s that time of year, when you tell halloween stories. With a name like, Rusty Trombone, he was dealt a bad hand from the start. Appreciate you.

That’s some heavy fucking irony, Keith. The title reminded of an old song, though it had to do with trains it wasn’t this twisted. Appreciate you.

Gotta be on your toes. Getting too comfortable can get you hurt.
This also reminds me of people who text and walk into polls because they don’t look around. -

Right on, man. Such an inspiring write! Addiction is very much like a ghost, haunting each moment of our lives. I am so happy you were able to push through and maintain. If you ever had any doubt, this poem is proof, that you absolutely do not need alcohol to conjure beauty and meaning on the page.
The last two lines in the third octet scream truth in my mind. Very, very wise.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Clay. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’ve found out I never needed alcohol to write, it was the addiction that had planted that seed of doubt in my head. It is a ghost always lurking in the shadows, though I’ve always seen it as a personal demon waiting to pounce. Appreciate you.

I love the honesty in this. What a purge of the soul amigo!
This has so much in it. It had its own evolution.
Just terrific! -

“My pen became a sword
poetry served as pseudo armor”Amazing how many of us are among this army. Accepting help is so hard. Especially if you’ve rarely been offered a hand. And we’re all kinda programmed to ‘suck it up’…like being human is a weakness. Stripped raw & flushing the wounds here, brutal honesty at its finest, my friend

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Love those lines as well. We are programmed that way, and it makes it difficult to rewire the mind. It’s still a work in progress, but it gets a little easier each passing day. Always enjoy your commentary my friend. Appreciate you.

This poem is raw, honest, and deeply moving. Knowing you wrote it just months into your sobriety makes it even more powerful –your pen becomes both sword and shield, guiding you from darkness to hope. A beautiful testament to resilience and the strength of new beginnings.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was cold turkey, and past overdue. Although it was my fourth attempt at getting sober, the third time was not a charm. lol. Thank you for your continued support, and wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

I love how this poem blends cosmic imagery with the deeply personal act of creation. The idea of writing with stars, leaving luminous fingerprints on an infinite slate, beautifully captures the timelessness and universality of poetry. It feels both expansive and grounded, as if the cosmos and the earth are woven together through the poet’s words.

I’ve honestly have only watched the first episode of Stranger Things. but your poem stands powerfully on its own. The imagery is so vivid and eerie, it feels like a story in itself.

Hey Fia. Thank you!
I wrote this yesterday trying to find my mojo. lol
It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and written anything.
I’m going to post more often but it might be some older stuff from DUP.
Im still simmering on my other write about wildflowers.
Fingers crossed I will write something this weekend. Thanks for the support:)

What! Of course you should’ve been made! All of my bad luck, you are my salvation!
You don’t write “dark” much. But obviously you can when it hits ya. The plethora of details within the write make it full, like a bag of candy when trick or treating. (That black cat I saw a few weeks ago was right outside my front door this evening!).
Haunting write, my Morticia,LOL. -
Hahahaha. There’s your word plethora!! You crack me up up.
Me a good luck charm? I feel a pandora charm coming on hehehehe
And you can’t take it back. I’m still your salvation but you have to take me shopping for girl stuff!
Thank you lover !!-
I was telling Glen, at work, about my boots you got me! He was asking about when is the hat happening. LOL. I told him I’m more a ball cap guy.
