    Darkness Doesn't Fade

wisdom can be a funny thing sometimes it's a special delivery... hidden in words spoken quite casually others...it lands with a resounding ring like the day that bell sounded for me   I met her the summer before my liberation she was the reason my abuse...

    • willow… wow… when I heard this its as if I was sitting on that porch listening to the the story… amazing

    • Beautiful. I love this. Powerful. Vivid and sharp.

    • First off, the rhyme scheme is on point. I can tell you really had to pull some crafty words to make the rhyme and tempo stay true. You succeeded. The story within is great, it follows through well and ends with a great mood.
      Awesome Willow.

    • I just listened to the recording! The music matched the tone of your write perfectly.
Even the voice! I’m all for letting go of dead weight in any write. Nicely done:)

    • Powerfully penned, Willow. Another excellent write that exercises demons while telling this tale of survival my friend. The music sets the mood as the voice delivers the truth while speaking your words with precision. Goosebumps on this one. Amazing read/listen as always. Appreciate you, Sis.

    We Are Atlas

it lays in my lap... closed... and anything but silent... it's speaking still... my hands resting reverently upon the cover... as a flood of emotions... and memories... pour from my eyes   she said it... and I felt it... at every single level... from the surface of thought... to the tiniest molecule...

    • I love that you chose a positive message to write of. There is never enough of that. So thank you! And the write is well crafted, full of inspiring lines to lift the reader up. Great idea and great result, Fia.

    • Great thoughtful writing Fia.
      💋

    • Powerfully penned, Fia. Another excellent write with lots of deep layers my friend. Nicely done. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you, Cuz.

    • This does have a positive feel to it.
You never know, sometimes acknowledging someone who’s struggling could impact their day in a positive way.
      One could only hope!

    • I think that too often people know it’s a mask, but they want to believe it’s reality. Because having to see what makes them uncomfortable is more than they’re willing to take on. So we paste on the smile and say we’re fine, and they eagerly choose to believe it so they don’t have to acknowledge the truth. I love that the message in this is to see beyond the surface

    Hang In There

Dear me,   there are so many things to say... and not enough words to express them... assuming you even have time to process.   I know what evil lurks in your shadows... the monsters haunting your thoughts... stalking your every terrified breath   I can assure you... there are...

    • I needed to read this today willow. This hit the right spot.

    • Awesome, and very relatable.
Actually, I was telling Del earlier that I want to work on something called “Book Of Scars”. Looks like you beat me to it! Maybe I will, still. But I don’t know if I can not be influenced by your write here. That’s okay!
I had some “issues” when I was a kid. But, as I got older, I realized that I would indeed outlive the demons. And I have. I am extremely mentally tough, for whatever reasons. Yet I do have a part of me that still feels the good out there. Perhaps that is why I enjoy your writes as much as I do. It’s real and easy to relate to.

      • The Rattle the Bones series is something I felt I needed to do…for me. I’ve shared bits and pieces of my trauma, but I’ve always been careful to not share chronologically. It’s time to “tell my story” from the beginning, in order. I can’t say it was a pleasant experience, writing and sorting it all out, but it’s done. I can’t share them all at once, so it’s gonna take some time to get them out in the atmosphere. I’m glad to hear you’re considering writing your story. I don’t believe we’re strong because of our trauma, I believe we’re still here because of our strength. Not everyone makes it out intact. If there’s one thing humans share unilaterally, it’s the experience of pain. Write your series, I’ll be here for it

    • Powerfully penned, Willow. Another excellent write with lots of layers, but also wisdom and guidance my friend. Using one’s voice to heal instead of lashing out.. Hit me like a bag of sledgehammers with this one. The letter format was a cool choice that fit the vibe and your musical accompaniment is precise. Below is the part that struck a chord inside me. Amazing read/listen as always. Thanks for sharing your story.. Appreciate you, Sis.

“your voice is your strongest weapon

I know the urge will be to finally lash out

      don’t

      use it to heal…

      to share how you feel…

      you’re not alone

      trust me…

      I know

      with all my love…

      me”

      • This was a piece that I wrote for a challenge on the old site, write a letter to your younger self. It eventually went on the cover of my book. I think there’s power in knowing how strong your expression is. With power comes responsibility. Use it with compassion and understanding. It’s a very healing way to use one’s power, I think. Thank you, bro. I’m glad this one resonated

    • I love this! Writing letters to ourselves is the most authentic poetry in my opinion.
Sometimes we write to find others who can relate but sometimes it’s meant for ourselves – to find our own sense of inner peace, self worth, all of it.
      Again, I love this.
      Keep on keeping on chica:)

      • This was written as an entry into a challenge on the old site, to write to our younger self. There was only one thing I really wanted to say, so I stuck to that thought. Talk about crying like a baby when I wrote it. 🙈 I’m glad you enjoyed this one 😊
