Hoi @Rascal
Light verse has a very very special place in the hearts of the Dutch.
There was a time, Some 40 years ago, that I met THE promotor of Dutch higgeldy piggeldies/olleke bollekes every first Tuesday of the month. So i must have written hundreds of them. Most of them as part of lyrics for songs, almost all of them in Dutch.
And a few in English. One I remember where ‘sustainabiliy’ was the key word. But looking for this one is impossible. The very long and very impressive artistic life of Carole king, began with ‘O Neil’. An answersong to O Carol by Neil Sedaka.
With that in mind I decided to write an olleke bolleke to you. An answer song or thereabouts.I
Donald Trump wat is dat
Nog niet genoeg gehad
Tijd voor wat vrije tijd
Dat komt goed uitII
Wordt geen misdaad geschuwd
Naar de afgrond geduwd
Wanneer is het genoeg
B’donder de kluitWhat I like about it, is that it’s full of letters/pronounciations the English language doesn’t have.
I love your poem to pieces. Thank you for posting!
Kind regards, Gus-
Greetings, Gus 🌿
I’ve written a few Higgledy Piggledy pieces, finding them enormously entertaining to compose, if a bit fairly challenging … which I always enjoy, too!

Donald Trump, what is that?
Haven’t had enough yet?
Time for some free time
That works out wellII
No crime is spared
Pushed to the brink of the abyss
When is enough enough?
Damn the whole lotYeah! When pronounced, comparing my English version with your Dutch version, I see what you mean by the fuller experience, and I completely agree.
“Trump’s Bloody Stump” (in Dutch)
Rommelig en chaotisch…
onze oranje man, Donald Trump,
trapt in zijn eigen valkuil
met bizarre poses.Hij bijt zich vast in zijn eigen enkel
terwijl hij onbegrijpelijk
en dwaas
gekke uitspraken doet.Ha-HAH! Poetry is such an endless smorgasbord of creative delight!
Thanks, Gus, for sharing some of it with me! ⁓ Rascal🖌

Delightful piece in every way.Quite the opposite of the orange buffoon.
His ascent to POTUS surely must put to bed the notion of an all caring, all loving, all knowing God.

Damian, this is strong tonic. I could feel this in my bones as I read. This i the stuff of poetry that feels like strong whiskey on the tongue. Sad but great writing.

Older age? I know all too well the fading of a few things within myself!
Yet you haven’t lost your literary touch! You are blessed with talent, that hasn’t ebbed. Thankfully we write down our material, no need to remember them from scratch! LOL.
You still can kick some ass with a pen, Damian. Wield it high!-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Getting old isn’t without the fear of losing one’s self along the way. I’m just trying to hang in there. You’re much too kind, Dear Sir. But thank you for your continued support brother. Appreciate you.

As you so often do, you stirred levels here again. I read this from the personal perspective of memories slipping. A sense of self lost in blips of time. I also see this as the world arena and how people have lost their sense humanity, their compassion, their community. Like the whole damn world has global amnesia. And I read it as literal amnesia from losing time in the form of blanks in memory from drink or drugs. Many layers, my friend

The return of H! Really good to see you scribbling again. Grief is such a bitch – sweeps in like an unexpected mist on a summer morning. You succinctly capture the heart’s burst. Rob (or Bobski to those pesky Londoners)

Dear AJ,
I’m much obliged to the hope and new days idea. The process of grieving is exhausting and much like the ebb and tide of an ocean. Thing is I like the ocean. Not so much grief. 😔
I’m very glad to see you and very grateful to have our DU connection. Thank you! H 🌷-
We often accompany someone to the veil but always come back alone. But sunderings are only for this world. One day loved ones will greet and welcome us home. Our true home. I look forward to that day. That is my hope.

My hope as well my dear friend. The charm of loneliness is a real kick in the gut. However, with the upcoming Yuletide I wish you the loveliest season ever. With as much joy and fun as you can stand. 😊xx

Hi H!
Aww I’m so sorry for everything you have been struggling with lately. Loss and change are emotionally exhausting.
It gives me hope that you are writing it out though. Facing it head on because what else are we to do, right?
Just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel chica. Hang in there:)
And did I mention I’m so happy to see you posting!
I can’t wait to call Mark and tell I read your post!-
Dear A,
Thank you! If I could have faced this ass backward I would have because in truth I like to hide and avoid reality at any cost. Unfortunately life won’t let me and that’s annoying. Been a sad year but I’ve taken joy in knowing you have a book out and I’ve been shopping. 👍🏻
I wish you the loveliest of Yuletide blessings. A healthy and happy new year to you and Mark! H xx🌷

Sigh…
This is less a poem and more a shouting (inside) from frustration. This is how you released it.
Not in vain, dearest H. We feel the words and sense the wisps of grief.
I’m glad that you are here, posting, in any capacity.-
Dear M,
It was a realization of absolute reality. I don’t have these two people anymore and I can’t outrun the sadness. That said I’m over the moon to see you and A on my page. A gift from all of you really. I’m hoping you’re well and looking forward to spending the holidays together. Thank you for this support. It’s lightened the burden and I’m grateful.
Merry Christmas to you and A! H 🌷-
Me and Del are still going strong. We knew that distance would be a factor far more often than not. Yet it’s worth it. Eventually we will be together to stay.
In the meantime we have you and others to share our time with!
Merry Christmas H. And i hope the new year brings new joys to ya!

This is heart touchingly beautiful, dear Honoria. I feel your loss and your strength as well! Pouring your heart on the paper is a wonderful and helpful way to cope with pain keep it up, beautiful poetess!

Dear KS,
I’m so very sorry for the loss of your brother. It’s such an interesting transition trying to navigate life after loss. It feels surreal as though I’m in an alternate universe, and one I’m not liking. Your comment has honored me profoundly and I thank you for reading and sharing your kindness. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and thank you very much once more for your lovely comment. H🌷
