    Starving Artist Mentality

It’s not about the fame or accolades  That’s a young man’s way of thinking My flavor’s breaking down barricades  That’s why I quit the whiskey drinking    Success is my double edged sword Staying grounded to the harsh reality Unwilling to completely cut the cord Protecting my...

    • Art is tragically undervalued. But all artist do it because it’s a calling.

      Great ink.

    • Keep the roots. Too many get lost in the accolades & forget where they came from. And that’s how they lose the spark & become sell outs…the roots made you, carry you & they can break you if you forget. True to yourself, my friend, you’re always on point

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I try to stay humble, as a form of discipline, to the craft. Appreciate you.

  • Really miss that old music thread at DUP but feel like we can make this our own Stars Rite music thread. Sometimes I have music playing when I write, and my algorithm is a complete mess

    • hello dearest poet greetings…this is very masterfully written I can sense its heartbeat 💕

    • Okay, this took me a minute to break down. In the beginning, you give me an archaeologist digging up an Egyptian site, but then you put the chimera in, and that’s Greek. So that put me on pause.
So I came to settle on this poem is about the Gods. (I could be absolutely bonkers with this one) Good piece.

      • Supernatural entities think they can create situations where they can feed on our thoughts & emotions through mindless entertainment and misleading media, not to mention religious and political corruptions that create a culture of authoritarianism through false scarcity and fearmongering….and they are right!

I got my crime shows and horror flicks at the push of a button for approximately an hour every night…voila, dopamine city! It really is sorcery, which I try to seek in the mundane everyday shit we take for granted. Our minds don’t register certain things as magic because they are commonplace to us. This technology we use….it is true wizardry thru n thru!

Thank you for that observation! Very helpful.
