I have been that tree. I have been the leaves it sheds…pieces of me to scatter in the wind. Having to endure everything around and unable to flee. My bark is worn in places and names have been carved deep into me. Like a willow…I weep.

First of all, thank you for the mention on this incredible piece. You don’t know how close to a moment in my life you danced with this one. I have a poem Darkness Doesn’t Fade, to be shared at some point later, that you might find interesting. There’s so much beauty in this piece you’ve shared. So much depth. And a clear, simply profound way of telling the story. Also, I have a little white fiber optic tree with a cardinal on it for every loved one I’ve lost over the years, human and furry both. It stays up all year. So much I love about this!
