Kill each other over our religions
end other lives for what we believe
we’ve taken men
hung them right up there
for the color of their skin
right up in our tree
that tree we carved our names into
heart with an arrow
shot clean through
hate them for what they believe in
hates us back for the very same
take these guns onto the fields
our blood runs onto its leaves
those leaves that fell so beautifully in autumn
this cool crisp morning won’t let us be
live and die
love or hate
our leaves fall from the same damn tree!

Yes, in some ways we are all alike, in others different. The leaves are a good representation. I often wonder if we’ll always be divided from now on.
Just a note: punctuation might help make things a little clearer.

Okay, gotcha. 🙂
Powerfully penned, Bat. Another excellent write full of deep layers my friend. This world often doesn’t make sense it’s frustrating most of the time. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.
Damian
