Reality of Now
we could spend our time talking
catching up on our day to day
going over little details
cover the minutiaebut that seems like such a waste
we have…right here
right now
no more than that
and who knows when you’ll be backso let’s drop the illusion
that there’s any more time…
than…thislife offers no guarantees
so can’t we just…be?
when the ache gets too potent
and the need grows too great
you reach out
and I eagerly reciprocatewe express our emotions clearly
with each instinctively placed word
and every passionate kiss
as one of us drops to knees
and the other fumbles for a grip
clawing at the edges of sanity
while lips engulf and squeeze
tether stretched beyond bearingwe take these gifts with greed
so let’s not talk about tomorrow
yesterday already came and went
right now…
let’s just be present
ensuring our time is well spent

We used to say “seize the day, seize the hour,” and after reading your poem Willow, I might add, “the time is now, seize the power”. The power of camaraderie and not allowing anything to stand in the way. I think Anise Nin would be happy with your poem, Willow. It is alive with the passion of sharing experiences of the now. Beautifully written, Willow.
