Tomorrow has slipped away
from your eyes.
I can see it
in the distant stare,
the apathetic blankness,
the way you sit beside me
and somehow
aren’t there.
Your love is as dead
as the orchids
in the trash.
I keep looking
for something
behind your eyes,
some little spark
that says
I’m still here.
But your heart
has become an abyss
and I’ve spent too many years
standing at the edge
calling your name.
Belladonna drew me in.
Beautiful flower.
Deadly poison.
I was intoxicated,
drunk on your beauty.
I lapsed into the delusion,
and the poison did the rest.
And I stayed.
God knows
I stayed.
Maybe I thought
love could cure it.
Maybe I was already
too far gone
to know the difference.

congrats Thomas on your book
Thanks.
Well designed write about a situation that we all can relate to. The anguish is well described here. We feel it.
Well done, Thomas.
