I guard my home

HomePoetryI guard my home

I am over qualified to become watch women who guards

But i am head of my home

After my parents passed away

My mother-in-law said to me watch home

Usually key of home stays with mother-in-law

And she passed it to me like our grandmother passed it to her

Like Kuldevi the village Goddess who protects the border of village

From diseases and evil souls to protect people

My responsibility made me to watch my home

I wakeup at 5am like my mother-in-law used to

I get fresh and pray to my lord and slowly let home be cleaned

With nice rangoli the age old tradition to welcome good into home

The servant Ramu goes to market to get vegetables and fruits

Slowly my husband gets up gets on to treadmill sometimes he goes to nearby park for walk usually in summer

I make coffee for him as he showers and reads the news paper of ET and Hindu.

Ramu cuts the vegetables and i start making Sambhar for idli.

My husband gets ready with his suit to go to office IT park

My sister in law with her preplanned check of emails gets ready to meet the Qatar energy client

I make plan what to make for lunch I already got menu from him

Slowly I return to see my plants are watered and birds with their food

And our dog Roman to have his plate food.

As the noon starts I take the carriage to office to have lunch for him and my sister in law

This tradition I followed from my grand parents

I watch my home keep safe my walls so no evil enters as i tied thaveez surrounding my home to be safe.

I love my home 🏡  my sweet home which is my responsibility.
