Linen and Gauze

Summary:
an attempt to write out silence-inducing melancholy while watching inclement weather

Humidity thick distant mountains gone

wall of dark rain

ten miles long

the hilltop gives way to infinite gloom

dressed in white linen

I’ll be there soon

car tires splash splutter held aloft

gauze not down a road

but across

anchored in loam as they scratch the sky

one brown loafer steps over

the ledge it is time

hold me like an oak embraces a boulder

ease this sullenness

shoulder against shoulder
