What Songbird Sings The Night To Wake

HomePoetryWhat Songbird Sings The Night To Wake

Its late now
I drowse between imaginings
and dreams
You sleep or I’d call
…(I wonder if you’re asleep [or thinking of me the same])

*

The quiet whiles
In the wee, small hours
when night gives way to flights of dreams
I lay adrift in imaginings
Yes, tonight (my love)
Your linger wraps my thoughts
Unbidden
At times the heart will have its way
As ordinary thoughts find their lustre
When moments touch your grace

What speaks the deep of night
Save missing you
I’m caught in the spell craft which you’ve wrought
How can someone be so deeply felt
Yet not be touched

Timeless as the scent of your skin

Awakened need beyond desire
In the flowering of bespelled time
Whose sands flow
A seeming golden strand
Yet I draw water like deserts dream of rain
Your body’s wet, slick
Hair streaming
Rivulets tracing…
Damp ringlets
Lacing your skin
In my imaginings, we’re weightless
Intertwined
In a sea beyond measure
But how measures need

Your body flowing through the sheets
Luminous
Grappling beneath
Kisses’ melt
You awaken more than ravished dreams
I’m falling deep
I toss and turn once more
Like ship adrift within a storm
All through the sleep lost night
You

Love me
