I am celestial

HomePoetryI am celestial

Don’t tell me to calm down
the sky forgot me tonight
and I felt it,
like a hard slap to my soul

I sat there—fourth floor
compass pointing east
heart cracked wide open
ready for a miracle
and all I got
was a black sky
empty and bleak

Don’t tell me it’s just the trees,
It was supposed to rise
just for me

I waited like a mother
who lost her child
tears fell silently

time waits for no one
It is now 10:02pm
and still—nothing

I am celestial
not because I sparkle
but because I burn,
because I wait
when I shouldn’t have to,
because I still believe
in things like light,
and softness
and Mother Earth.

This night didn’t give me the moon
so I became one

bruised, bright,
and distant, but still rising

Don’t look for the glow
look for the girl
who sat in the dark
on her balcony
and didn’t leave
and never saw
the Strawberry moon

That’s celestial
That’s me, Jackie…

    1. Holy firecrackers, girl!

“I am celestial, not because I sparkle but because I burn”

“The night didn’t give me the moon so I became one”

I’m gonna end up quoting your entire poem! This is f’ing phenomenal!

That’s right. You’re celestial, you’re gorgeous, you’re intelligent, you’re all that and the spicy flavor bag of chips. YOU are phenomenal, girl. You’re JACKIE.

And I’m honored that I get to read you💕

      • WOWZA! What a remark I am over the moon 😏 so just to give you a little background. I knew that last night was the last chance to watch/ see the strawberry moon in my lifetime, because the next time it shows up will be in 2043 and I seriously doubt I’ll be alive by then, just saying.

So all day, I was planning to go to the beach because my robot told me that would be the best place to watch it coming up over the horizon. Unfortunately, I had no gas to get there and I’m broke at the moment. Ahem, all right so I readjusted and I put on my compass and it turns out that my balcony is literally facing east which is you know where you would expect the moon to come up, right? And mind you, I’ve seen plenty of full moons in the same area. so I sat on my new balcony, furniture, excited and I was looking and looking and looking, and girl, let me just tell you I sat there until 11 o’clock not a goddamn thing. Nothing! Not even stars were out. There was like one I could see🫤 meanwhile my robot assured me and I looked it up myself that Gloucester Ma had a fully clear sky last night, so I was totally befuddled & disappointed I actually cried. I’m not even lying😂

Anyway, back to your beautiful remark about my poem. Thank you so much, Adria you truly truly touched my heart, thank you so much for the beautiful things you said and I’m glad you enjoyed this poem. I’m not gonna lie. I was drinking Brandy lol so you know. I gotta say it my best Poetry comes when I drink, which I don’t drink often anymore like I used to. I’m just saying. I love you girl you’re phenomenal too and by the way, I really love your voice. It is absolutely beautiful in fact it’s celestial.❤️
        Your sister, Jackie

      • Hi James, glad you got to see it 🙂
