Have you ever wondered

What it would be like

If you weren’t even born

You would not even be

A dot scribbled anywhere

Or a number on anyone’s phone

Or remembered by those

Who love you or hate you

Or a name chiseled on a stone

Would they even stop

To tell you they miss you

Or is it the loss they morn

If you were a shadow

Cast on a silver wall

Or pain from a thorn

Would it make a difference

When in the end we are all

Born to live in the unknown

  1. Even without the music the words have rhythm and are thought-provoking and sad. Kind of like “It’s a wonderful life” kind of vibe. “Not even a name on a tombstone” is scary.

    Great poem, Sam.

  2. Nice thought provoking piece Sam.

If you were never born you’d never be able to ask the question at all.In any case, we aren’t born at all as we are not made of anything physical. The body I suspect is just a vessel in which we swim.
The real you is consciousness and even that isn’t a you because it’s egoless.
I’m rambling here I suppose but you get my gist.
The you you think you are is an illusion.
