Lon Chaney…the catacombs in this prison cell
I feel a nightmare, a raging blaze
Resurrecting you to haunt me
In gay Paree, the theater grand, I’m just waiting for you
Turn to Christina, her lovely voice my only freedom
Alas my only choice
Down in the dungeon
Upon this stage
Behind this mask
To feed my rage
I’ll be there, always there
You all know my name
I’ll be there, always there
And dream of lost fame
You cannot see me, but hear my voice
Leading you on and on, dear
your lovely talent I will push
The only thing I have to give to you
Still see the acid and yield the scars
My raging torment to burn
I’ll be here in this theater
Christina “sing for me”!

very foreboding is Christina from the movie or is that a cryptic name?
Christina is the girl who witnesses Erik’s accursed face during that famous scene where she removes his mask. The silent version of this film is the only version I enjoy since it’s silent. I don’t like musicals. That’s why this 1925 version works for me. Plus, it’s the original.
Powerfully penned, Keith. Classic movie, classic write my friend. Happy 100th, Erik. Appreciate you.
