Daisy & The Rock War

It wasn’t a race thing. Some kids
just hate other kids. There were 4
blond haired blue eyed kids and
6 mixed race kids…and lots of rocks.

But first, 7 year old Daisy had coerced
little 6 yr old Joey to eat a dandelion
in exchange for a kiss. He did and
she reneged. He told his older brother.

The older boy threw the first rock.
It went over the fence and hit the
family’s cat. That pissed off the other
kids who all threw rocks back.

Joey got clobbered with a stone the
size of a baseball and down he went.
He just laid there unconscious. Nobody got a parent involved because…WAR!

Rocks went back and forth and
eventually all the kids got tired and
their arms hurt. They quit for the day
and just left Joey on the ground.

He didn’t tell his parents, as he feared
his dad’s belt. He had a terrible pain
and there was swelling. PTA mom
and workaholic dad never noticed.

In school, Joey could no longer see
the blackboard. He was moved to the front of the class and his parents were notified he probably needed glasses.

Two weeks later, he had a prescription
for his bad left eye. The glasses were ready in a week, but Joey couldn’t see
out of them. In fact, he couldn’t see.

The brain surgeon suggested trauma.
The kids remained silent. Abuse was
suggested and the parents lost the
kids to the system. Then, Joey died.

The dad was arrested. Although he
was eventually acquitted, the mom got
a divorce. The three surviving kids now
had major psychological problems.

He said…she said fighting ended either
parent’s chance of custody. The father
suggested his wife might have killed
little Joey. He knew that he didn’t!

The kids grew up in foster care. Anger
issues made people leery of adopting
them. The oldest boy died in Vietnam.
The girls never married and died young.

All this over the broken promise of a
first kiss. Joey had really liked Daisy.
Most of us ruin our lives over an actual kiss! Daisy lived happily ever after…

…and it was her rock that hit Joey.
