I’ll be honest here, I used to hate watching golf. I couldn’t understand why anyone would spend hours watching THAT. You can’t even see that minuscule ball soaring into the air. And land? The f…? Where?!
But my nephew plays golf, he’s a superstar. I started watching golf with him on tv about 16 years ago. It took a year or two, but I can watch an entire game and not be bored. The precision, the concentration, the skill…bored? Never. Would I play? Hell no.
This poem is brilliant.
You defined life perfectly- in those few short lines with a golf game. And, your classic Butkowski-ish poetry is perfect for this.
