Do you remember the days
When you heard the radio play
We are the world
And “One” on Bono’s tour
We just wanna have fun
Was chased by I wanna dance with somebody
Are those days done
Hello anybody!
A Smooth Criminal was played all-day
Now we have one in the white house
Hip hip hooray
Yea quiet like a church mouse
I remember when the wall came down
The shock and awe of it all
I remember when another house came down
It was crazy. We knew who started that ball
There was a singer named George who took the world by storm
There was a president named George, who had to do harm
To create the United States and to be unified
Is UNICEF around or did that die
In every era, they claim to be the best
No one wants to be the worst
We might get there, I bet
Music and politics constantly collide.
Who will be the voice of today
To keep hope alive
We had our Dream
And by any means necessary
Did we have to go through this
Listening to the everyday commentary
We need a song people who write
Something that unites
Because there is great fear in the air
Our sons and daughters have anxiety and despair.

Brilliantly penned, Fia. Music and politics collide often. Great read my friend. Appreciate you.

They have gone away, Thank you Atticus.
Hi Fia,
Sorry to do this here but all I can do is comment on a poem from the pain page or post from the main page as of five minutes ago (4/12 12:00pm. EST). I can’t access my account to do anything. This was the only way to reach you.
okay, will get on this.
Hi Fia
Can only access my account from the main page where my profile name is listed at the TOP ( it’s so small). I can not empty my messages or the screen goes white. I can post from there only. Not the main page still.
Tremendous work. I remember those days well. You bot me thinking about Terrance Trent Darby…Wishing Well. Great song.
Yes, I know that song. Thank you, Thomas
Perhaps a lesser known spiritual hymn “Nether Lands” by Dan Fogelberg from 1977. Though I like much more the version as sung by Donna Summer from 2017. It is an absolutely beautiful song, simply about the human spirit without all the noise that life brings. The lyrics give me goosebumps. If we all could realize just how special the gift of life is; just maybe the world would become a better place.
