Can you say something
-anything-
that will make me
less afraid
 to go to sleep?
Are there any words
to assure me
the deep void of night
is all right?
Can you comfort me
from afar
Whoever you are?
Can I reach back out
to you
with words
that
somehow,
I know are true?
Perhaps beauty awaits us
when we can see each other
in our shared darkness.

Awesome write. Dreams and nightmares are our warped realities.
Thank you. I just updated it, so it’s a little different now.
The night at bed time is always when my thoughts get the darkest if I’m not careful. This reminded me of that.
Yes, you understand what I was saying. Thank you.
This is so relateable. Sometimes we just want to stay up and talk to anyone who will distract us from the darkness inside us.
Exactly, Indie. Thank you.
Love this entreaty poem. Indeed we seek a way out of the darkness and it often helps to have a helping hand from someone we can trust. Truly a beautiful nocturne poem that resonated in the chambers of my soul.

Thank you so much John. I’m glad it reached you, and I appreciate being understood.
Love the ending of this, and I love the succinct texture. You add depth as you go until the whole piece becomes a metaphorical journey. I like where you take this.
