To outgrow any weakness, we have to first feel the pain and the embarrassment it brings. We remember how it feels and we replay those awful images and we learn to coexist with nightmares.
There’s definitely a lot of truth in this, but also everything in moderation. Becoming fixated on things won’t make you better, just neurotic.

My eyes open, to the imagined. My eyes closed, to the real. My ears open, to hallucinations. My ears closed, to your voice. My mouth open, to ramblings. My mouth closed, to anything sensical. My hand open, once to yours. My hand closed, now to yours.
Indeed, everything changes. I would suspect, or at least in my own life, the choice to switch what I am perceiving is all interconnected.
