Atmospheric Compression
sleep…
we parted company…for the most part
a while ago
snatches of nap here and there
but a full night’s sleep?
…very rare
disrupted by dreams and thoughts
as I stare at the ceiling
and tossmaybe it’s only my imagination
(but I somehow doubt it)
the world feels…
heavier?
more dense?

Watch Your Mouth
we weren’t allowed to curse
so she never did it herself
always setting the good example
whenever we repeated words heard…
that we were forbidden to utter…
she’d softly remonstrate…
“now now now…watch your mouth”
but I learned very early
she had an exception
if pushed to full annoyance
(a rare event – she…Read More4 Comments-
In our house it was the threat of having our mouths washed with soap if we cursed. And it only took one mouth washing to guarantee obedience to this rule. Very cool poem for day 7 of poetry month Willow -Curt

My cousin told me to say a word in front of my mother, and I didn’t know what it meant and I got slapped. Never said that again. haha at least not to her.

Protest
Protest! They say they care.
Protest! They wouldn’t dare.
Protest! They cut your hair.
Protest! They strip you bare.
Protest! They foul your air.
Protest! Your bruises hurt.
Protest! Your face is dirt.
Protest! Your eyes are tired.
Protest! Your jaw is wired.
Protest! Your eyes are black.
Protest! No going back!

It’s borne out of my frustration at The World, Fia. The Devil, threatening to wipe out a civilization using foul-mouthed rhetoric only makes life worse for all of us, bluffing or not. The Devils on the other side are just as bad, if not worse -putting to death 30,000 innocent protestors. Pray we all move to Peace, soon, girl. Take Good Care of…Read More

A STORM’S MIMIC EMOTIONS
Why does it rain?
When I’m sad?
Does it feel my pain?
When things go bad?How can it last long?
I’m still crying
When will it be gone?
The outside is pouring.Where is the sun?
To feel better
I just wanna go out and run
Even with this dark weatherI try to smile a bit
And when I do
I see the r…Read More2 Comments -

We Are Not Machines
Do not worry
if you shall fall and forget.
Tomorrow always comes.
What’s most important is that you try.
It’s a shame that we forget that everything that we do
starts off with a person just trying. The stark white of the page

I love it. Yea it’s true we just human and have imperfections that is normal. We aren’t like ai that thinks smart and won’t forget but we just require time. That time that many don’t wanna wait. Good write Fia ❤️

I think your poem speaks to something very true Willow. There is a definite compression in the air in these times (and for many for a very long time before this). But especially today, there is the feel of the walls pressing in, everything is hunkering down trying to find a safe place to live in. This is no way for human beings to live. -Curt
