She pulled his jumper up to her face, breathed him into the now empty space.Flopped in the chair that was clearly his own,not sad, not lonely, not even alone.Through the window his eyes once looked throughshe smiled and pondered the beautiful...

      • The atrocities of war felt by everyone

      • Powerfully penned, James. Another excellent write about the horrors of war my friend. The casualties are not just the ones who lose their life in battle. It’s returning soldiers and their families that carry those scars as well. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.

        • Thanks for reading. Generations of damaged people. War is not what people want. Presidents and premiers choose it for us.
          Regards
          James

      • I can speak from experience. Many times the civilians are truly the major suffering. They didn’t sign up for any of it. I’ve seen enough back in my days that I learned what a crock of shit most of it really is. Politicians and profits and land grabs.
Great write, Knight. You don’t have to be a Veteran (or active military) to understand the plight of so many.
        Well spoken.

      • Thanks for reading and comenting. Only billionaires and politician win wars. Everyone else looses.

      • Why wouldn’t he last? Being on his own for too long?

        • You are asking a 14 year old boy such difficult questions…. Remember I wrote this when I was merely 14… after so many years I still do not have an answer

      • Intense read. I feel it.
        Regards

      • A tender, tragic truth about wanting freedom before you’re ready to bear its weight. Thought-provoking writing from a 14-year-old boy, Sam. Hope you’re having a lovely day. 🙂

        • no unfortunately I’m not 14 years old anymore…. although I would not want to be… wasn’t a good time for me then… as you can feel from this poem I wrote when I was 14… but thank you for your comment Ms. Grace
