    ...off the handle

Tonight, the storm was flying off the handle, her body hardening in my hands a bit of rigor would do you... Saying. "Mama, may I?" With the hip flask of her naked anatomy containing the formaldehyde of her evermore....

    • Whew, chilling. The mind reacting to itself. Creative way to explore the tension between control and chaos, intimacy and decay. I’ve never been much of an introspective writer; at least I’ve never sat down and said I’m going to write in that way. And while your piece is indirectly introspective, given the abstract images, it does make me think. its the way you show a mind caught in strange, looping thoughts while trying to make meaning of overwhelming feelings. Anyway i’m rambling, this was short and sweet.

    War in the Dirt

At the foot of Cyclone Hill, the drama played out. On one side, there were US soldiers; gritty, seasoned veterans of the second world war, and on the other side were cowboys, including Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy...

    • This is so light-hearted, and the innocence of watching children play is sweet. Now the sister swooping down had me laughing. This is a fun read.

    • Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I used some pretty old cowboy and super hero names, so don’t feel bad if you didn’t recognize them.

    • As a sister looking for someone to play with while my brother is off having fun with his friends, I can say with glee I was the demon in pink boots, lol. Childhood nostalgia at its best. Great piece, Sam!

    • I know I’ve said it before but you really are the master of this writing genre Sam .. This one as always made me chuckle no end .. Write on my friend .. Neville 😎👍

    • Hoi hoi @Poetspeak,
      Hope this finds you well?!

How recognisable! My parents didn’t mind. They feared nicotine more than the occasional joint.
      Maybe Amsterdam being the difference?

Love your writes. Keep them coming please.
      Kind regards, Gus

    • Hi Gus

      Thanks for the street cred

Hope all is well with you !

      Keep on Rocking

      PS

    • good morning dearest Poet looking good and I’m sure singing great ❤️

    • What a way to open. Love this piece;))

    • Oh fuckballs, missed you Sherrif.

Love the vibe, the near-hippy feel and the captured moment of youth. This is a gorgeous momento.

    • Beautifully penned, Speak. Excellent write my friend. Morrison was one of a kind indeed. Odd fact, Robby Krieger the Guitarist actually wrote the lyrics to “Touch Me” among other Doors songs. He was like their secret weapon in a sense, Morrison did write the bulk of their lyrics though. This is why I love poems referencing music. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Not surprised with Kriger penning the songs. The dude carries it and he’s still out there gigging ..

        Thx Damien

        • Alive and gigging, maybe?
I personality think that, as the number of stages seriously were lowered in Corona times, the grey tigers have the moral obligation to make room for the wild young musicians.

Grey tigers includes me as a matter of fact.
          Kind regards, Gus

    • This is the PS we all know and respect. An artwork wouldn’t go amiss either!

    • I did have a picture of me in my underwear at that age.

Maybe I should try to sell it with my used man boxers

      Thx Rob
