Summary:
I wrote this one over a three day period finishing it tonight. These are lyrics and complete for now, there could be tweaks if put to music. And I am learning to play piano, so anything could happen. I can't comment at present but rest assured Fia and Sam are on the case. When repaired I will catch up on comments. Be safe folks! Appreciate you. - Damian DeadLove

Guilt is the anchor weighing him down

It devours everything that he holds dear

Spirts in a bottle are a means to drown

Away decades of pain and constant fear

Withering flesh returning to dust and bone

Silence is louder when experienced alone

Willfully numb to the damage being done

He’s been playing loose with a loaded gun

Dark clouds are blistered by an angry sun

He’s wearing scars never shown to anyone

Love though sacred pierces like a thorn

What was once pure he’s forever disgraced

Vows pledged are broken words left torn

With meaning lost seems trust was erased

Withering flesh returning to dust and bone

Silence is louder when experienced alone

Willfully numb to the damage being done

He’s been playing loose with a loaded gun

Dark clouds are blistered by an angry sun

He’s wearing scars never shown to anyone

    1. Nice one, Damian! These lyrics deserve piano music lilting in the background. I commend your efforts and patience to learn how to play such an instrument. There is something special about singer-songwriter music, a heartbeat and warmth that other stuff lacks. I look forward to your return, my friend, til then cheers to you!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Clay. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Singer-songwriter music is excellent, mainly because it’s all about the song. As far as the piano it does take patience but it’s been fun as well. Cheers.. Appreciate you.

    2. hello dearest Damian these lyrics evoke so much emotion in me. Sometimes, we go through life and you feel alone maybe because some people cover their pain… this is open and honest and lends to your depth ❤️

    3. “Silence is louder when experienced alone” – The past speaks loudly in the silence as the mind contemplates. I can image dissonance among the musical notes as they progress across the keys of the piano. Well thought out and written Damian.

    4. “Silence is louder when experienced alone”

Full stop. That is one helluva profound truth right there. There’s nothing to offset the silence when nobody else is there, so it takes on a life of its own. Conversely, when one needs to be heard or needs someone to say something, the silence screams just as loudly. Because alone doesn’t always mean one is the only person in the room. And that’s an even deeper screaming silence. I do hope this one hits the music stage and lands on the album. This one is deep, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That is my favorite line as well. Unfortunately I’ve experienced that silence, but the wording is simple yet powerful in my opinion. From your description I’m not the only one who’s been in that room. Which I know we’re not alone that situation as well. This one is probably going on the album for sure. I’m still messing with that riff, it just needs more to it musically before I start trying to put words to it. My skill level getting better can only help the situation. Plus, I’ve started noodling around the keyboard more which is where ideas come from. Appreciate you.

    5. As read your note first I wondered what key this would be in. It’s a great piece and would love to hear it later on.
      Amazing work my friend.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Wally. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m usually a fan of D. But what ever sounds pleasing to the ear works for me. I’ll share music when there is some brother. Appreciate you.
