She tasted of sin –
I kissed her velvet petals
and she bloomed to my kiss.
Her petals unfurled
and candlelight bleed
into her shadowy soul.
When she breathes,
the candle flame trembles.
I stand –
Between her and the flame.
The light capturing
our late-night sins.
Her thin smile in the glow,
her petals roll up
at my distancing heartbeat.
